Appearance:
Emma is an extremely beautiful young woman. Her hair - long, dark, and slightly wavy - is what she got from her mother. And her mother, Christina, got it from her mother. Dark hair has always been a common trait on her mother’s side of the family. Though there has been a red head every now and again. Emma loves her hair, and is constantly doing things to it - braiding it, putting it into ponytails, etc. She will never, however, under any circumstances, cut her hair. Her hair is too amazing for that, she point blank refuses. If someone tries to force her, they will deal with the wrath of a Melrose. Her eyes, meanwhile, are from her father’s side of the family - dark and stubborn. She loves her eyes, as well, but not as much as her hair. During their lifetime, she was closer to her mother, and feels her hair connects her to her mother. Kind of stupid, right? Emma’s eyelashes are extremely long, and, apparently, those are from her maternal grandmother. It seems to Emma that she got all of the good traits from her mother. Go figure, right? Emma also has a tattoo of a rose on her shoulder blade, which she got once she first arrived in San Francisco. She loves it, and got it from her name (Melrose). It might not be the most original idea, but it was better than the unicorn her friend Sophia wanted her to get. She also has a scar on her wrist, from when she fell from her bike at the age of ten and broke her wrist on some glass (long story, trust her, you don’t want to know). She also has a birthmark on her other wrist in the shape… of a blob! Wow, amazing birthmark, right? Either way, Emma has named the blob ‘Tony’ after her favorite character on a TV show. She doesn’t know why. And, finally, Emma has a small tattoo of a phoenix on her ankle (no, she’s not a Phoenix Witch - she just thought it looked cool).
Personality:
Emma is a rather typical big-sister/little-sister - she’s in constant competition with her siblings, yet she adores when she gets her own way. Pretty much like any other girl, really. Emma has good qualities, just like everyone else in the world - she is very determined, for starters. When she wants something, there is almost nothing that can stop her from getting it, no matter what happens. She’s willing to go above and beyond, since she is, sadly, a perfectionist. She can’t stand when she has done something and it’s not as good as it can be. She also enjoys using her creativity in everything and anything in her life, which has resulted in her becoming quite a good spell writer. Emma also uses that creativity in her art, and loves to draw and paint, along with take photographs. She also is somewhat vain, as well, as she always cares about her appearance, and will go to get lengths in order to look her best. Emma is also somewhat sarcastic, a trait that she picked up from her brother, Dillon, and her father, Howard. Emma is also extremely intelligent, and enjoys researching and learning more about something she has no idea about. She also loves kids, and hopes to have a few of her own someday.
Emma, however, also has bad qualities - she has a very short temper, and it has gotten her into trouble a good number of times in her life. She also tends to judge people harshly. Emma can hold a grudge for a very long time, and that has also gotten her into trouble at times. Another bad quality is her tendency to blame others for her mistakes, even though she knows that she needs to stop. Emma also tends to be very hard on herself when something else goes wrong in her life and she knows that she can blame no one but herself. She is also overprotective of her true friends, but she will stand by them until death, if she must.

History:
For as long as she can remember, being a witch has been a part of Emilie’s life. She grew up with magic, grew up loving it, and can’t imagine a life without it. To her, around her family, being a witch was the same thing as saying that they had brown hair, or brown eyes. To the Melrose family, being a witch was something to be proud of - they were born with a gift, they said, and they needed to help fight against the forces of darkness whenever possible.
And that was the legacy that Emilie Andrea Melrose was born into. Born as a witch, Emma grew up learning about magic from her parents, Howard and Christina, and her two-year-older brother, Dillon. Dillon was the one, actually, who gave Emilie her name - he merely took the popular ‘Emily’ and give it a twist, and Emilie has always loved that about her name. She feels it makes her who she is, and it made her unique in all of the other Emilys in the world. Either way, she still loved being called Emma, and - at rare times - M’M by her older brother and father.
For the first two years of her life, Emma grew up happily as the baby of the family - that is, until Riley was born. Born two years after Emma, Riley took her place as the baby in the family, and she would be the last - because of complications during Riley’s birth, Christina had to give up being able to have children, in order to survive. So, their family of five - Howard, Christina, Dillon, Emma, and Riley - was completed.
However, that did not stop the sibling rivalry in the Melrose household. While Dillon was used to sharing his parents’ attention, Emma was not, and felt that it was Riley’s personal goal to make Emma’s life miserable. Because, of course, what else could be the goal of a younger sibling? Emma eventually grew very close to her sister, and became good friends with her later on in life, but would always bee slightly in competition with her, no matter what. Because, after all, the first girl in the family has to be the most powerful. Right?
Emma eventually entered elementary school alongside her brother, and later, her sister. Emma knew, however, that she had to keep her magical life a secret. No one could know that she was a witch, according to her parents, or some very bad things could happen to her and her family, along with a lot of other people in the world. So, Emma kept it quiet. Besides, she didn’t want to tell anyone. It wasn’t like anyone would believe her anyway.
Eventually, Emma discovered that she enjoyed creative writing at her school. Once she entered middle school, she joined the school paper, becoming a hard-core journalist soon afterwards. Eventually, she got a scholarship for writing in college, and went on to do that. But, during high school, her life changed more than she could ever know - she met friends that would stay with her during her entire lifetime. However, once she graduated, she moved away from her high school and hometown, hoping to make it big in the city.
A month after her 19th birthday, however, tragedy struck, and her parents were killed in a car accident. Emma, feeling horribly guilty, tried to stay in school and keep strong, but she knew it was hard. Grief-stricken, Dillon and Riley, now twenty-four and twenty themselves, moved to the city along with Emma, hoping to find a new life.
But Riley is convinced that their parents’ deaths were not an accident. But before she can figure out what really happened, Emma must find a way to pull herself together, if she wants a future at all. Never mind what’s in the past - it’s in her present that holds the key to Emma’s future. If she can find love with someone, of course…

IC: (Taken from Charmed: One Last Time)“Dang, Nate, you’re serious?”
Dressed in a pair of blue jeans and a lavender-and-white shirt, Emma Melrose walked into the trendy nightclub. Her cell phone was to her ear, and a frown was on her face. It was not, however, a horrible frown - it was a frown of confusion, and perhaps a frown of disbelief. But no one could blame her because of her frown - her idiotic stepbrother had done something that she could have never guessed.
“She actually said yes? To a second date? Nate, did you… did you cast a you-know-what on her?” Emma asked slowly and quietly. She stopped just a few steps away from the bar, and then shook her head.
The young witch winced as she heard Nate’s insulted reply back to her. She was extremely close to her eight-year-older stepbrother, but Nate had never been truly concerned with personal gain. Neither was Emma, for that matter. She would just take it as it came because, honestly, she didn’t really care about what happened to her most of the time. She would take it as it came. Emma was a pretty easy-going person, in that respect.
“Alright, alright, sorry for teasing you! God…” Emma rolled her eyes, and then glanced around a little. “Hey, I’m at the club, I’ve got to go. Yeah, love you too. Yeah, I’ll call if I need a ride home, but I took a taxi. I’ll be fine. See ya.”
Emma hung up the phone, and then sighed as she walked up to the bar. She honestly just needed a bit of a break that night. Being a college student/witch was never a particularly easy job, but it had gotten a lot worse as of late - especially since she had heard that her older sister, Sam, might still be alive after being kidnapped by demons over ten years ago. She missed her sister so much, and had believed her to be dead. Considering the fact that their father John had died in the same attack that Sam had gone missing in, it hadn’t been that hard.
But that hadn’t eased the pain at all.
Emma shook her head, and then sat down at one of the barstools, slipping her phone back into her off-purple carry-on bag. She smiled at the bartender, and then glanced at what the other patrons were currently drinking. She was in the mood of drowning her sorrows in some drinks, and she wouldn’t mind if she picked someone up that night. She needed it, to be honest.
Normally, Emma didn’t drink that much. She had heard about people dying in car accidents caused by alcohol (she had been wounded in one of those when she had been fifteen) but she didn’t have any problems with drinking herself. And since she was twenty-two and legal, she did it every now and again. But only when she needed it.
“Um, I’ll have a beer, I guess,” Emma told the bartender as he came up to her.
A couple of moments later, he returned, and handed Emma the beer. She paid for it, and then started to sip it, looking around. Just a lonely girl with a beer, and Emma didn’t relaly mind how she looked right now. She just wanted to get everything out of her head, and have a little fun, since she was a little uptight at the moment. Well, she was a little uptight all the time.
To be honest.
